Flying Lotus, Ideas+drafts+loops

Flying Lotus, or @flylo, is getting ready to release another album, or at least sharing his ideas, drafts and loops.

At his twitter-page he posted a download link to some of his Ideas+drafts+loops (you can find the link at the bottom of this article). His last album, Cosmogramma, got great reviews, and the expectations around his upcoming LP are high.

Out of the sounds Flying Lotus, or Steven Ellison, released for download, the one that stuck out to me was: “An Xbox killed my dog”. The song has a beautiful jazzy vibe.

What surprised me the most was the dreamy vocals. While listening, I suddenly realized he was singing in my native language, Norwegian. It turns out Flylo has sampled some old norwegian christian vocals (at least thats the impression I get from the lyrics). I really wish I could put myself in a place where I wouldn’t be able to understand what the singer was saying on this track, considering I think that would make an even more mysterious “state” around the whole track.
